Juniors end of season
Posted by David Devincenzi-Clemens on 5 July 2018
The hockey pitch buzzing with activity for the final day of the 2017/2018 Junior's season.
In the 7 a side tournament the winners were already safely home but it was still all to play for for second and third place.
The 9 a side also went down to the wire. Had Falcons beaten Eagles in the last match there would have been a three way tie for first place but sadly this was not to be.
Over a hundred juniors have taken part in both cup and league matches this season, numbers which the GHA are very proud of. The interschool hockey tournament was also a huge success. These competitions give juniors the chance to play week in week out against both boys and girls, with the aim to prepare national squads for European challenges and then develop these players in the ladies’ and men’s leagues.

After the presentation the juniors thoroughly enjoyed running through the water sprays on the pitch, kindly put on by the GSLA who have worked tirelessly throughout the year. Once soaked, there was a brief chance to dry off before pizzas and drinks arrived – almost a hundred pizzas ordered!
All in all another successful season for the future players of today. Thanks must go to all coaches for their endless hours of voluntary coaching, the umpires, GSLA and all those involved in the organisation of the tournaments in any way.
